Woodlots In a Nutshell: Program Overview

More than two-thirds of Vermont’s forest land is privately owned.

Maintaining the health and resilience of the region’s forests relies on many individuals who steward independent parcels.

By working together, we believe we can do more.

The Woodlots Program creates a peer-to-peer network of landowners within a connected landscape. Every season, the group ventures into the woods to learn from each other and experts about land stewardship and conservation.

The program follows up by connecting landowners with technical assistance and funding to help in achieving their stewardship goals.

The Woodlots Vision is a connected and protected working landscape where exemplary forestry is practiced for the benefit of wildlife, climate resilience, forest health, and our local communities.
